Parents Night, Senior Night Highlight Volleyball Weekend

Kearney, Neb. - The 4th-ranked Nebraska-Kearney volleyball team will close out the regular season this weekend at home when Chadron State visits Friday and Colorado School of Mines comes to town on Saturday.

The Lopers and Eagles will square off at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday's match against the Orediggers has been moved up three hours to a 4:00 p.m. start.

Led by a four person senior class, this current UNK squad is riding a 23 match win streak, the sixth longest in school history and the third best of the Squiers era.

UNK (29-1, 17-0 RMAC) could also finish unbeaten in the RMAC for the third time in the Rick Squiers era (1999-present). The 2004 and 2005 Lopers each finished league play 19-0.

Current senior right side Shannon Clausen (Beatrice) was a redshirt on that 2005 team, which finished as national runners up.

Clausen and fellow seniors Nikki Scott (Broken Bow), Erica Burson (Gretna) and Kell Wemhoff (Humphrey) have combined for over 1,650 sets in their UNK careers.

Each has received regional or national honors and have helped the Lopers win 122 matches since the start of the 2006 season. They will be honored prior to the Mines match on Saturday.

Next weekend, UNK will host the RMAC Tournament (November 12-14). Pairings will be set Saturday night and available at www.rmacsports.org.
