Kearney, Neb. –Hastings freshman Sara Wissing shot a 36-hole total of 172 to be the top golfer in a rare dual with Fort Hays State this week in Kansas.
Due to weather, several Colorado schools couldn't make the trip out to the par 72 Smoky Hill Country Club. So, the Lopers and Tigers had a dual with the teams playing 18 holes on Monday (March 30th) and another 18 on Tuesday.
In less then ideal conditions, Hays shot a 728 (363-365) with the Lopers at a 751 (366-385).
Wissing had rounds of 87 and 85 to be the only UNK golfer in the top five. Erika Householter of the Tigers was second (178) with Sam Nelsen and Kelsie Paul tied for third (183).
Also for the Lopers, senior Megan Marshall was sixth (186), freshman Nicole Erwin came in eighth (193), sophomore Thea Baum placed ninth (200) and sophomore Emily Carlson finished 10th (203).
UNK plays in UNO's Spring Invitational next Monday and Tuesday at the Ironwood Golf & Country Club.
