Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney women's golf team shot a 36-hole total of 694 to finish in fifth place at the RMAC Fall Invite # 3 in Golden, Colo.
The 10-team tournament was hosted by Colorado Christian and played at the Applewood G.C.
UNK sat in sixth after Monday's action (356) but fired a 338 on Tuesday to rally past Adams State (698) and into fifth place. The 338 is the Lopers second best round of the fall, trailing only a 328 shot in the second round at Mesa State.
Individually for the Lopers, Hastings freshman Sara Wissing (82-85) and Kearney senior Megan Marshall (87-80) tied for 10th place, each firing a 167.
Jennifer Hilts of Mesa State paced the field with a 157 (77-80). She also helped the Mavericks (660) edge Fort Hays State by one stroke for the team title.
Montana State-Billings (682) and Western New Mexico (685) were third and fourth, respectively.
Also for UNK, Norfolk freshman Nicole Erwin tied for 25th (176), Grant sophomore Emily Carlson tied for 34th (184) and Norfolk sophomore Thea Baum was 38th (187).
UNK will begin its spring season in March 2009.
