Kearney, Neb. - The Nebraska-Kearney athletic teams are well represented on the 2013 MIAA All-Academic teams.
Overall, 189 Lopers (99 men and 90) women qualifed for the squad, which features 2,461 student-athletes.
The
MIAA Academic Honor Roll features all 2,461 student-athletes. To achieve honor roll status, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 and have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
Of those students, there were 219 winners of the
MIAA Scholar-Athlete Award, which is given to those who have a cumulative GPA of 3.50, have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms, and, if competing in a championship sport of the MIAA, earn All-MIAA honors.
If competing in a sport without an MIAA championship (swimming, rowing, etc.) the student-athlete must either be selected to an All-Region/District team in a team sport, or qualify for the national meet in an individual sport.
Finally, 107 student-athletes also earned the MIAA Academic Excellence Award, which is given to those who maintain a cumulative GPA of 4.00 and have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
